You Don't Pay a Cent Until the Contract is Signed

Tips For Hiring Entertainment or other Vendors
✅ Always get a signed contract before paying anything.
✅ Never pay a deposit until both parties have signed.
✅ Use a credit or debit card so you’re protected if you ever need to dispute charges.
✅ Check the fine print. Make sure it says what happens if the vendor doesn’t show up.
✅ Expect fairness. Most contracts say you lose your deposit if you cancel. Mine is different — you can apply it to another date if I’m available.
✅ Do your homework. Read reviews everywhere (not just one site).
🚫 When Vendors Cancel
Unfortunately, not every vendor who cancels for a “family emergency” or “car accident” is being truthful — I hear that story all the time from clients left scrambling.
If it happens to you, document everything — the date, payment, and messages — then contact your credit card company to dispute the charge. Reputable vendors stand by their contracts.
The best solution, though, is prevention. Hire a professional with a track record of showing up — no excuses, no ghosting. I’ve built Caricatures by Kathy on reliability, honesty, and decades of proving it.
