Disney Themed Wedding
Fall 2024
I was on the phone with the bride’s stepmom during our initial consultation when she asked a question I had never heard before.
And when you’ve been a wedding caricature artist as long as I have… that’s saying something.
“The bride and groom have an unusual wedding theme,” she said.
I leaned forward.
Did I mention I love unique wedding themes?
“It’s a little unorthodox,” she continued.
“Oh, boy,” I thought.
“Can you draw them as characters from Disney’s Hercules?”
YAY!!!
I didn’t hesitate. “Absolutely.”
“Can you have them riding Pegasus?”
Still smiling. “Of course.”
“Can you keep it a surprise?”
I grinned. “Watch me.”
We signed the contract that same day — one of my favorite examples of how a themed wedding can turn into something unforgettable.
More Than Décor — When a Wedding Theme Has Meaning
There was no cosplay.
No cartoon props.
No over-the-top decorations.
Just a beautiful, elegant wedding with a subtle Disney fairytale wedding feel woven into the day.
But the DJ mentioned the story.
And the story was why the stepmom hired me in the first place.
The bride and groom had watched Hercules on their first date. They loved the message: anyone can be a hero. They both worked in the medical field — heroes in their own way.
That’s what made it personal.
Not décor.
Meaning.
And that’s what I was thinking about as I set up my easel that night at this truly unique wedding theme celebration.
Building the Surprise
All evening, I drew their guests — placing friends and family inside themed caricature scenes and sending them back to their tables as ambassadors with personalized artwork they chose themselves.
I literally tell them, “Go show everybody.”
And they do.
Suddenly the line doubles.
Guests don’t just watch the theme.
They step into it — which is exactly what makes themed wedding entertainment so powerful.
They got to choose which Disney princess and prince they wanted to be — Aladdin and Jasmine, Ariel and Eric, even a Beauty and Beast theme. (That one was fun.)
It started to feel like a live-action fairytale wedding playing out in real time.
But I was watching the clock.
Because the bride and groom hadn’t gotten drawn yet. A little too much like Cinderella for my comfort.
Jennifer, the stepmom who hired me, checks in and winks: “Don’t forget the special surprise.”
I smile. “I’m ready.” I tell her to make sure the bride and groom get drawn. She assures me they're on their way.
With about thirty minutes left in my contracted time, I started wondering if they’d even make it to my chair.
Then suddenly — there they were.
Glowing. Slightly breathless.
I found my self speechless for a moment. It was a little like Celebrities had just sat in my chairs.

We introduced ourselves, and I gave them instructions as usual.
“You can relax and be yourselves. No frozen smiles allowed,” I told them.
I made a ridiculous face.
They laughed — and visibly relaxed.
Works every time.
I started sketching and told them how much I loved their playlist.
Frank Sinatra. Louis Armstrong. Not exactly your typical Gen-Z fare.
The bride, Alexis, smiled and said she wanted music that everyone could love. Her new husband Lucas agreed.
I fell in love with this couple right then.
Faces first.
Hair next.
Then the scene.
I quietly pulled up my reference of Hercules and Meg riding Pegasus on my phone.
They had no idea.
Between hugs, greetings, and interruptions, I kept angling the drawing away from them.
I hoped I was keeping it a surprise…
Because surprise matters.
The Big Reveal
When I finally turned the drawing around —
Their hands flew to their mouths.
They looked at each other.
Then at the drawing.
Then at each other again.
They were stunned that I had woven their theme into the artwork without them having any clue — transforming their wedding caricature into a true fairytale wedding moment.
It wasn’t just a caricature.
It wasn’t just a cartoon.
They became part of the theme.
Not just spectators.
Participants.
And the whole energy around them shifted — people leaning in, smiling, wanting to see.
Now they have a piece of artwork hanging on their wall that reminds them of that night — the music, the meaning, the joy — every time they see it.
When I turn it around, their faces light up. Laughter. Surprise. Joy. The whole room leans in to see.
It was one of the most memorable themed caricatures of my 26-year career.
More fun than a photo booth — because it wasn’t just a picture. It was their love story.

Hercules wedding

And They Lived
Happily Ever After
And you can too. With wedding caricatures your guests will treasure forever.
As Hercules says: Anyone can be a hero. That night, I got to be one in my own small way.
This is why I do what I do.
Every wedding I draw at reminds me how much love and laughter can be captured in a single sketch. And it would be my honor to create a keepsake like this for your wedding too — a gift for your guests, and for you.
Your caricatures aren’t just entertainment. They’re frame-worthy favors your guests will treasure — and your own once-in-a-lifetime portrait, drawn live, on the happiest day of your life.
Planning a themed wedding is one of the most exciting
parts of designing your celebration.
Couples today explore everything from rustic wedding themes
and enchanted forest weddings to Star Wars weddings and fairytale wedding themes.
But once you choose the theme, the next question becomes:
What entertainment actually fits the world you’re creating?
That’s where live wedding caricatures come in.
Instead of generic reception entertainment, your guests
become part of the theme itself.
They don’t just watch the theme.
They step into it.
Fun brides choose caricatures.
Why Themed Wedding Caricatures Are So Popular
Themed weddings allow couples to turn their personalities, favorite stories, and shared interests into a celebration guests can step into.
Instead of simply decorating a venue, a themed wedding creates an experience — from the music and atmosphere to the entertainment and guest interaction.
That’s why couples planning themed weddings often look for ways to make their theme interactive rather than purely decorative.
And that’s exactly where live caricatures shine.
Popular Themed Wedding Ideas Couples Love
Some couples lean into classic styles like rustic wedding themes, vintage wedding themes, or romantic garden celebrations.
Others go all in on immersive experiences like enchanted forest weddings, beach theme weddings, or Great Gatsby weddings inspired by the roaring twenties.
Fantasy themes are also incredibly popular, from fairytale weddings and Disney-inspired celebrations to Star Wars weddings and Beauty and the Beast wedding themes.
And sometimes couples surprise everyone with something completely unexpected — from masquerade balls and medieval weddings to pirate weddings or even playful themes like Shrek, LOTR themes, or even The Princess Bride Themed Wedding. (If you're doing that last one, PLEASE call me!)
The best themed weddings don’t just look beautiful.
They invite guests to participate in the story.
That’s where interactive entertainment like live caricatures shines.
Some of the Wildest Themed Weddings I’ve Drawn
After 27 years drawing live events, I’ve stepped into some incredibly creative worlds.
Themed weddings are some of my favorite celebrations because every couple brings something different to the table.
Over the years I’ve drawn guests inside all kinds of themed wedding experiences — from romantic storybook themes to completely unexpected ideas.
Star Wars weddings.
Beauty and the Beast fairytale weddings.
Great Gatsby celebrations.
Beach weddings along the Gulf Coast.
National parks adventure weddings.
Each one had its own personality, and the caricatures became part of that world.
Guests didn’t just attend the theme.
They stepped into it.
Sometimes couples choose characters.
Sometimes they choose locations.
Sometimes the theme is woven into the background of every drawing.
And outside of weddings I’ve drawn themed caricatures for just about everything imaginable — dinosaur parties, Lego themed celebrations, galaxy scenes, circus performers, and even a Shrek themed event for a brewery.
Because once you start thinking creatively, the possibilities for themed wedding entertainment are endless.
If your wedding has a theme, I know how to step into that world with you.
Guests don’t just watch the theme.
They become part of it.
Some weddings feel like stepping straight into a storybook.
This romantic fairytale wedding featured a dramatic staircase entrance, soft draping and lighting, and a reception filled with warmth and laughter.
Moments like these are exactly why themed weddings are so fun to draw.
When couples embrace a theme — whether it’s fairytale, fantasy, vintage, or something completely unexpected — the entire celebration becomes more immersive for guests.
And when the entertainment fits the theme, the experience becomes even more memorable.
