The Secret to an Unforgettable Wedding Isn’t What You Think

You want your wedding to be unforgettable.
You could pile on the flowers and food. You could hire the best DJ in town or even a live band. You could have a 360 photo booth. You could choose the most beautiful venue you can find.
And all of those things can help make a beautiful wedding.
But beautiful and unforgettable aren't necessarily the same thing.
Think about the weddings you've attended over the years. Do you remember the centerpieces? The exact meal you ate? What the linens looked like?
Probably not.
What you tend to remember are the experiences.
The thing that surprised you. The thing everybody gathered around to watch. The thing you'd never seen at a wedding before. The story you told someone the next day.
That's the secret to an unforgettable wedding.
Give Your Guests an Experience
One of the best ways to make your wedding memorable is to give your guests something they don't normally get to do.
Something interactive. Something unexpected.
Maybe even something that's been on their bucket list.
That's one of the reasons I love drawing caricatures at weddings.
People constantly sit down in my chair and tell me, "I've always wanted to have a caricature done!" And now they finally get one — at your wedding.
That experience becomes connected to your day.
I'm Kathy Buskett, and I've been a professional caricature artist for more than 27 years. I've drawn at weddings and events all over the country, and I've learned that the best wedding entertainment doesn't just give people something to watch.
It gives them something to experience.
But Do People Really Want a Caricature of Themselves?
This is one of the biggest concerns I hear about caricatures.
And I get it.
You and your guests spent a lot of time getting dressed up and looking good. The last thing you want is an artist drawing enormous noses and making everybody look ridiculous.
That's not what I do.
I specialize in flattering caricatures.
My goal is to capture someone's likeness while making them feel GOOD about the drawing.
I want the person in my chair to laugh. I want the people watching to have fun. And when I turn that drawing around, I want the person I drew to be excited to take it home.
Because that drawing is about to become part of how they remember your wedding.
An Unforgettable Wedding Favor They Actually Want
Wedding favors are tricky. You can spend hundreds — or thousands — of dollars on little gifts for your guests, only to find half of them still sitting on the tables when everyone goes home.
A live caricature is different because the favor itself becomes part of the entertainment.
Your guests watch the drawings being created. They watch their friends get drawn. They laugh together. They compare pictures.
And then they go home that night with a custom piece of artwork created just for them.
No waiting weeks or months for their artwork to arrive. And unlike a traditional wedding favor, it isn't identical to everyone else's.
It's theirs.
Your Guests Can Actually Take the Memory Home
One of my favorite things about caricatures is what happens after the wedding.
People frame them. They hang them on walls. They start collections and add another caricature every time they encounter an artist on vacation or at another event.
I've even met people who still have caricatures that were drawn decades ago.
Now imagine your names and wedding date printed right there on the paper.
Years from now, one of your guests can see that drawing hanging on the wall and
immediately remember where it came from.
Your wedding.
They remember sitting in the chair. They remember everybody laughing.
They remember who they were with. They remember the experience.
That's a wedding favor doing exactly what a wedding favor is supposed to do.
Fast Matters at a Wedding
There's another reason caricatures work especially well as wedding entertainment: they can keep people engaged without taking them away from the celebration for very long.
I'm an unusually fast caricature artist. Depending on the drawing style, I can complete some caricatures in just two or three minutes per person.
That matters when you have a room full of guests.
Instead of spending half the reception waiting in line, guests can get their drawing and get right back to dancing, eating, visiting and enjoying your wedding.
And because I can draw more people per hour, more of your guests get to participate in the experience.
Entertainment AND a Wedding Favor
This may be my favorite part.
You're not paying for entertainment over here…and wedding favors over there.
Caricatures can do both jobs.
