Wedding Venue Review: Three Lakes Manor, Poplarville MS — A Castle in the Countryside

Every once in a while, I draw wedding sketches at a venue so breathtaking I jsut have to write about it — and Three Lakes Manor in Poplarville, Mississippi was one of those places.
I was there this past weekend drawing live caricatures for a lovely wedding, and from the moment I drove up the long, winding road, my jaw dropped. Rising out of the Mississippi countryside was a literal castle — turrets, ramparts, and all — surrounded by rolling green hills and a sparkling lake. It looked like something out of a fairytale. Don’t ask me how a castle ended up in rural Mississippi, but I’m so glad it did!
The bride and groom held their ceremony right by the water, framed by the lake and trees behind them. The planner (who was awesome) set up my caricature easel near the outdoor bar and fireplace — a cozy, covered space perfect for guests to gather, laugh, and watch as I drew. From there, a staircase led up to a wide patio where the DJ kept everyone dancing under the lights, and another set of stairs brought you up to the grand banquet hall where dinner and the cake cutting took place. The whole design flowed beautifully, creating an effortless transition from ceremony to celebration.
If you have guests who use wheelchairs or have limited mobility, be aware that the venue includes several levels accessible only by stairs. However, they do offer a convenient golf cart service to shuttle guests between the parking area and the ceremony site — which I really appreciated while carrying my gear.If you have guests who use wheelchairs or have limited mobility, be aware that the venue includes several levels accessible only by stairs.

What really stood out to me, though, was the service. Every single member of the staff was warm, attentive, and professional — exactly what you’d expect from a five-star venue. Everything ran seamlessly from start to finish, and guests were clearly having the time of their lives.
As a live wedding caricature artist, I’ve worked at hundreds of venues across the Gulf Coast — from New Orleans to Destin — but Three Lakes Manor truly deserves special mention. It’s elegant without being stuffy, grand without being cold, and every corner feels thoughtfully designed for both beauty and comfort.

If you’re planning a wedding in Mississippi (or anywhere in the Gulf Coast region) and want a venue that feels like stepping into a storybook, Three Lakes Manor in Poplarville should absolutely be on your list. I can’t wait to draw my wedding sketches there again!
If you’re planning a wedding anywhere along the Gulf Coast and want to give your guests something they’ll actually take home, consider adding live caricatures as favors to your celebration. I specialize in fast, flattering sketches that double as one-of-a-kind favors — drawn right before your guests’ eyes. It’s entertainment, keepsake, and laughter all in one.
