Forrest Gump Caricature

Forrest Gump caricature I drew, from one of my favorite movies. I actually saw this film three times in the theater.
And now, years later, I have a grown child with Down syndrome… which makes the story land a little differently these days. ❤️
One thing that always stood out to me about Forrest Gump is that nearly all of the main characters are carrying some kind of struggle or limitation.
Did you ever notice that?
Forrest has an intellectual disability. Lieutennant Dan becomes physically disabled. And Jenny is deeply wounded emotionally and spiritually.
What makes the story so powerful is that each of them, in their own way, keeps moving forward and finds healing.
That’s probably why the movie has stayed with so many people for so long.
