A Legendary Event

Last night was the last day of January and
A night I won’t soon forget.
I met JFK, Marilyn Monroe, Jackie O - all 3 were in the same room, can you believe it?
And there was not one, not two, but THREE Elvises - along with Priscilla Presley
And there were Dolly Partons Everywhere!
It was Legendary!
What event was this, pray tell?
“A Night with legends” was a fun and successful fundraiser for Christ the King Catholic School held At belforest point in Daphne, AL
Seeing how nearly everyone had so much fun dressing up, I would say that was a great model for a fundraiser. Wow was it rocking in there!
I got to draw Elvis twice - which means I got to tell the story of how I got married by Elvis - by mistake! (If you ask nice maybe I’ll do a blog post about it)
I drew caricatures of so many legendary people. And the things people chose to dress up as were so delightful! I found myself clapping my hands with glee like a little kid on Christmas morning.
Towards the end of the evening, one of the band, the Tip Tops (who are the MOST rocking band in town) came over and hugged me and told me he’d gotten his caricature from another event framed and hung in his house. I remembered him from a recent wedding I did, I think it was in Mobile.
Little moments like that always make my day. I love when I make people happy - and knowing my art is hanging in people’s houses all over the world 😎
I also got to meet the venue owners, The Beebees, who were very proud of the venue they had built themselves - and rightly so. I’d been to belforest point before for Girls Night Out by Amanda Spann but I didn’t know there was a whole outside seating area until tonight.
That venue would be so perfect for a large wedding or any other large event. It’s not easy to find good venue spaces but I would definitely consider this one if you’re venue hunting. It’s legendary haha.
But I digress. I just had so much fun drawing all theses fun legends at this event. A big shoutout to Genevieve and her team who put this event together. (They were all dressed as Dolly Parton Which was a clever way to make the planning team stand out)
As you can imagine I do a LOT of events as Baldwin county’s premier caricature artist. About 150 last year alone.
Outside of a wedding which are always a blast, this event stood out as one of the best planned and most FUN Events - and much of that had to do with the excellent choice of theme. The “legends” theme got everyone involved and excited before the party even began.
So if you’re looking for a themed party idea, you might want to try this one! The creativity was just delightful. In fact - it was legendary!
